I've experienced projects that focus on the critical path, critical flow, or a combination of methods. Critical path schedules often use Gantt charts and logic ties based on mathematical formulas embedded in computer software to plan and manage projects. They are typically made with little input from those performing the work and can be more than dozens and dozens of pages long. Critical flow methods like Takt, Scrum, Last Planner System, Pull Planning, and Line of Balance are typically made with lots of active input from those leading the various scopes of work and often are represented on a single page or whiteboard.
What are your project planning, scheduling, and execution experiences?
